MOMs FLOW

MOMs FLOW – what to expect and what you can look forward to.

A holistic approach to help you achieve inner and outer balance as a woman and mother.

The course is usually offered from 6 weeks after birth onwards. Why 6 weeks? To allow enough time for the uterus to return to its original size and the place where the placenta attaches to the uterus to heal. The start date may vary, based on advice from your doctor and/or midwife. In most cases, the gynecologist will carry out a check-up with ultrasound within six weeks of the birth, to see whether the placenta has healed completely.

Once the uterus has returned to its non-pregnant position and size, it is useful to support the body to perceive itself as a ‘non-pregnant unit’ again. Let’s clarify what this means: Your body had to change a lot during pregnancy. Almost every organ had to adapt itself to enable the changes necessary to support the growth of your baby. The uterus pushed other organs in the abdomen away, and your ligaments and muscles rearranged themselves.

In many cultures, the first forty days after childbirth are sacred. The mother is given time to rest and heal, and is provided with nourishment, which is supposed to provide the body with the nutrients that it needs to regain strength. In our western society this is no longer common. The woman is back on her feet much more quickly. You can be assured that as a woman and mother you are doing extraordinary things for our society. We would like to strengthen you on different levels so that you don’t lose the energy to become the woman you want to be.

We start with your body awareness. Where do you find your balance, your centre, when suddenly there is no big belly in front of you? How does it feel to breathe when your lungs are allowed to expand again? How does your heart feel and beat when you are standing on the mat doing exercises?

By the time we see each other for the course, the uterus is actually already healed. However, the rest of the body continues to a process of ‘transformation’. It’s not about getting back to a pre-pregnancy state. Your body may never feel the same as it did before pregnancy. That is fine. Now it’s about nurturing and strengthening your body and mind so that you feel comfortable and find your FLOW. As a MOM, as a woman, as YOU. Besides the physical exercises to strengthen our muscles and the whole musculoskeletal system, it is also important to provide the body with good nutrients. After pregnancy and birth, the body is in an extraordinary hormonal state. Hormones are key messengers in our body. They influence many metabolic processes as well as our mood. Therefore, it is even more important during this time that we eat fresh, warm, balanced meals. For new ideas and inspiration, we send you recipe ideas every Monday and you will also find information on how the world of plants can support you in your transformation.

FLOW-MOM-FLOW! We would like to support you to be healthy and feel strong in your transforming body. There is no pressure to be in this so-called FLOW state every day. As a mother, you will have good and not so good days, and you will be in very good company. Compare this to surfing: To surf a nice wave and feel in FLOW, we have to paddle a lot. It’s exhausting, no one would argue with that. And some days the sea is flat, or too choppy to even catch a wave. That’s why we try to enjoy paddling as well. We would like to equip you for this: strengthen your body with exercises, good food and the knowledge of herbal medicine. This is what the Arcus-Package: MOM FLOW is meant to offer you – or at least to give you a burst of inspiration for your ‘new start’.
