Midwife Practice

New beginnings

We accompany you, your baby and your family through life-changing phases.

Pregnancy and the time after birth mark a great transition for women, couples and young families into a new, extraordinary phase of life: full of joys, opportunities and challenges. We feel honoured to accompany you through this phase.

In the process, families can also experience profoundly difficult moments. When a child does not survive pregnancy, birth or the first months of life, the family experiences a time of grief and of finding ways to let go.

We are at your side in every situation.

We work as a midwife team as we replace each other during our free days or holidays. This means, that you will probably get to know all of us. We are looking forward to meeting you and your family.

Our offer before the birth

  • Prenatal care

If the course of the pregnancy is normal, we will accompany you in addition to and alternately with the examinations by the gynaecologist. We check the heartbeat, the babies growth and their position.

Our colleagues in the doctor’s office will carry out your blood and urine tests. We discuss preventative health measures and the alleviation of possible complaints. At every appointment we create space to discuss and clarify your questions, uncertainties, fears and concerns.

  • Birth Preparation

    Individual birth preparation

From the course of the birth to the role of the partner during the birth. From preparing for parenthood to organising bedtime.

Create your personal birth preparation with our expertise and advice.

We are also happy to support expectant twin parents.

  • Home visits during pregnancy with increased risk

In the event of pregnancies with risk of premature labor or other complications, we will accompany you with home visits. We plan and offer everything to do with prenatal care and in your home.

Measures to alleviate your symptoms are also an important part of our support, such as with abdominal massages to relieve labor pains and relaxation techniques for the stomach, lower back and pelvis.

Our offer after the birth

  • Postpartum care

As soon as you leave the hospital or birth centre, we offer you comprehensive aftercare with home visits up to a maximum of eight weeks after the birth. The visits include health checks for the mother, initial exercises to stabilise the pelvic floor and relieve the strain on the lower back, and medical interventions, such as stitch removal after a caesarean section.

Support during this time also includes advice on breastfeeding and bottle feeding. Together we practice baby care and how to care for your newborn. We also address challenging situations such as restlessness, colic and crying in the evenings. We also always welcome partners to ask questions, actively participate, and to develop their own rituals.

  • Breastfeeding counseling

Throughout your pregnancy, you can get in the mood for the upcoming breastfeeding period. This is particularly recommended if your breastfeeding experience with the last child was unsatisfactory. We support you from the moment you leave the hospital or birth centre until the end of the breastfeeding period, with breastfeeding, weaning and with the switch to bottles or solid food.

Initially, the focus is on the breastfeeding positions and the best sucking techniques for your baby. Throughout the course of the breastfeeding period, issues such as “too little or too much milk”, breastfeeding and sleeping rhythms, sore nipples, engorgement, breast infections, breastfeeding and returning to work, as well as natural or medicinal weaning, can become relevant.

During the first 8 weeks postpartum your assigned midwife will be happy to support you with breastfeeding advice.

  • Birth processing

Did the birth go differently than how you imagined? Have you had a painful, traumatising experience that feels difficult to deal with? We are honoured to offer you support.

The focus of the consultation is sharing your experience and your associated feelings, as well as looking towards the ways you can find peace with your situation. The professional processing of the birth event based on the birth reports, relaxation and focusing techniques as well as working with internal ideas, offers the basis for solution-oriented support.

The accompaniment develops according to your needs and your health. Inner processes of you as a mother, father and also as a couple can be developed, supported and accompanied. We also inform you throughout the discussions with information on various ways of saying goodbye.
